K&N HP-1003 Performance Wrench-Off Oil Filter

  • O/E replacement oil filters for most cars, trucks, SUV's, motorcycles, & ATV's
  • Resin-impregnated filter media traps 99% of harmful contaminants
  • 1 In. exposed nut designed for easy oil filter removal
  • Heavy duty construction for extreme conditions
  • Anti-drainback valve (where applicable) eliminates dry starts, prevents oil from draining back into crankcase during engine shutdown

Aside from OEM oil filters from the dealer these are the only other filters I use on my 2008 Toyota Camry Hybrid. These fit snuggly and don't leak. I also love the ability to use a 1" racket to put these on and off. It makes the oil filter removal and replacement significantly easier than other filter types. These filter the oil very well and allow good flow so engine performance doesn't suffer at all. I use a 0W-20 manf. recommended synthetic oil for my oil changes with these filters and the combo works great. I perform oil changes every 5k miles and these hold up more than fine in that interval. I definitely recommend this filter to others as a solid OEM filter alternative.

I don't understand why the other filter manufacturers don't do this. All I need is a 1" socket, and it comes off easily every time. K&N is the only oil filter brand I buy. I use synthetic oil (Mobil 1 or Castrol Syntec) and change the oil every 7500 miles on my Prius. I've done my own changes ever since the complimentary services ended at 36,000 miles So far, the engine has over 157,000 miles with no issues. From what I've heard from people who know far more about engine oil-related matters than me, the quality of the filter's construction is also top notch.

Used this to replace the factory Kawasaki 49065-7010 oil filter on my FJ180V AM23 engine. Fit great and their were no leaks.

Have used these in all my vehicles and lawm mower for many years. In my cars and truck I replace every 10,000 miles and use a top grade synthetic oil. Never have I had any problems with any of them! Their cost is deferred by the fact that you eliminate two oil changes per annum if you are using non-synthetic oil in your vehicle. The nut on the end makes it very easy to get them off and on.

I've watched youtube videos where people cut open different oil filters and compare the quality of materials and designs used. Based on those videos, this oil filter seemed to be the best quality filter they tested. It's not much more expensive than other brands and if it can support the longevity of my car's engine then I'm more than willing to pay a few extra dollars for it. I went on a 1500 round trip with this filter and this filter was a great partner in crime for the trip. I have an older vehicle, a 1998 Toyota RAV4 and anything I can do to keep the older engine happy is a good thing. During that trip I reached 180k miles, which for a well maintained Toyota ain't much.

I use this on my 2003 Toyota Celica and so far it’s been pretty good. Around 1500 miles on it and no problems whatsoever

These are a seriously good deal for $10 and change! I've been running Mobil 1 Extended Performance through these, changing the filters every 5k miles and the oil every 15k. The K&N has done it's job well when using some of the best oil on the market for extended service. I have 25k on this combination of filter and oil and have recently done both compression and oil analysis tests (at the 100k service) that have confirmed they're doing their job at protecting my motor. The compression test reported nearly the same numbers as I had at 60k when I was changing the standard Mobil 1 every 5k miles. This is particularly relevant considering I have a little 4 cylinder motor that lives around 4,250rpm on the highway. Whether or not the filter is more responsible than the oil, or vice versa doesn't matter to me. What matters is that both items are doing what they need to do to keep my little Scion purring along at 36mpg. It would be a bargain at $15.

As always you can count on reviews by Consumer Reporting, however since this item is simply an oil filter not much can be said here but I will highlight the advantages versus other consumer grade filters. K&N provides a couple neat aspects to their oil filters which you (may or may not) find in other brands; 1) This filter includes an anti-drainback valve to help prevent dry starts. 2) It is a "wrench off" filter so you are able to attach a socket to the end and turn the filter that way. I have been using them for years and they have always performed well.

I've been using K&N filters for years, never been disappointed. These white wrench off style ones seem to be of a better quality than the black ones, no surprise since they cost a good bit more.

I could give you a long review full of performance enhancement claims, but I'll just be blunt. Ever since I switched to K&N, my used oil seems less dirty when I drain it and having the 1" nut welded to the top of the filter makes changing it a breeze. If you own a car with a hard to reach filter, that nut alone will make it worth every penny of the filter's cost. I have a Toyota Camry where I can barely even get my hand back to the filter through the tiny opening, let alone get enough leverage to loosen it by hand or use a conventional filter wrench. Not an issue with this filter. 1" socket on a ratchet with an extension shaft and it comes right off in just a few seconds.
